In the year 1837, Nancy Marlow and her young brother, Tom, set out from Dorset to see the Queen. Their father has been wrongfully sentenced to transportation and their mother arrested. Nancy is determined to ask the young Queen Victoria for justice. Reaching London at last, the children discover that the Queen is riding in procession that day to open Parliament, but are unable to get her attention.
