Remember – You’re My Sister!

Plot

Rose Carlton was adopted at the age of four and has a comfortable life with her adopted parents. But Rose wishes she could find her sister, who had gone with relatives when the natural parents died and they could not take Rose as well. When sneaky Iris Smith finds out, she pretends to be that lost sister to take advantage of Rose and the good life she has.

April Fool

Plot:

April Matthews is being blackmailed into taking second fiddle to Shirley Kingsley and being her slave so Shirley can be the star of the school. The blackmail is that Shirley’s father is threatening to withdraw his loan that the Matthews family need for the treatment to save the sight of April’s sister Tina. The blackmail has April being labelled “April Fool”.

In the end April discovers Shirley tricked her into it all and Tina got her sight cured elsewhere. Shirley gets caught out and has no choice but to confess to the headmistress.

The Truth about Sandy Starr

Plot

Stand-in Sandy Starr arranges an “accident” for Dina Dean, the star of a new film. But then Sandy finds her crime is bringing its own punishment. Her accomplice Sibylla starts blackmailing her, she is getting threatening anonymous letters, and then Dina’s brother and mother discover Sandy and Sibylla were responsible for her accident.

Plot

Trouble on Wheels

Plot

On the day Jan Patterson’s little brother, Neil,  was to have the plaster removed from his injured leg, the doctor discovered a complication and ordered the plaster to be retained. Jan felt responsible, as Neil had fallen from his chair while in her charge. Realising that Jan felt guilty, Neil rook advantage of his position and blackmailed her.

Cat Conway

Plot

Acting under the instructions of the sinister  Burglar, and in order to save her captive twin sister, orphan Cat Conway used her skill as a gymnast to steal the Crown of Carranowa. The police questioned the gymnastics team who had stayed the night at Linklight Hall, opposite the art gallery from which the crown was stolen.

The Tree Sprite

Vicky Gibbs has a miserable job in service because the other servants bully her, but says nothing to her family because they depend on her job. She confides in an oak tree, which turns out to be inhabited by a tree sprite. The bullying gets worse when another servant Millie, starts blackmailing Vicky into doing all her chores, leaving Vicky with no time for her own. The tree sprite wreaks revenge on Millie, but the servants deem the tree dangerous. They are out to cut it down when Master Richard returns from his art studies. He stops them and gives Vicky a new job – the model for his new painting “Nymph in a Tree”. Master Richard makes his fortune with the painting and Vicky and her family never want again.

The Power of Petra

Plot:

Plot

The Double Life of Coppelia Brown / The Double Life of Dolly Brown

Plot

In Victorian times, the Grimbys blackmail Dolly Brown into a fraudulent act in a travelling fair, where she has to pretend to be a life-size doll. When Dolly is not playing the doll, the Grimbys use her as a half-starved slave. The Grimbys keep Dolly enslaved with a story and poster (only partly intact) that she is wanted by the police. Dolly has lost her memory, so she has no idea what happened there.
