The Jezebel Curse

Plot

Sarah Clarke was intensely jealous of her talented siblings Steve and Charlotte. So when Sarah accidentally conjured up the evil Jezebel Jordain who was drowned as a witch in the 17th century, she saw an ideal opportunity to use Jezebels’ powers to bring down Steve and Charlotte.

The Scarecrows of Spooky Hollow

Plot

The Ferris family who’d recently taken over Fortune farm in the village of Spooky Hollow had been warned by a retired farm hand, Willie Burford, not to meddle with the two scarecrows which had been protecting the farm for years. Jody Ferris had uprooted one of the scarecrows however – and now life on the farm had become a series of accidents.

The Curse of Crawley Moor

Plot

With her dying breath, many centuries before, an evil witch Regina, had vowed that six black horses would bring destruction to the village of Salem, on Crowley Moor, every hundred years. When Julie Carton found out about the curse she decided she must break it. The only way she could do it, was by taming the six stallions which ran wild on the moor.

Beanstalk Brenda

Plot

After Brenda Halford had touched the leaves of a strange plant, she begun to grow at an alarming rate. It was causing many problems for like when she was supposed to represent her school at netball but hearing cruel remarks about her height caused her to run off.

Bossy Bessy

Plot

Bessy Barclay has an unfortunate habit of telling people  how they should tackle tasks which they are perfectly capable of doing without her help. When she does it to an Indian’ fakir and ruins his act, the fakir puts a spell on Bossy that makes her change places with anyone to whom she offers advice.

Tina Tells

Plot

During a school trip to a local museum, Tina Barnes tried on a ‘gossip’s bridle’ which left her with the uncontrollable urge to spread any secrets she happened to hear. This, and the fact that she always added to her stories to make them more interesting, had resulted in Tina losing all her friends.

Lucy’s Locket

Plot:

Lucy Lane is given a locket by her Great-Aunt Jane for her 13th birthday. Then Aunt Jane sends a letter saying that the locket belonged to someone who may have dabbled in witchcraft, and any object put in it will cause its owner to have bad luck. Aunt Jane says she does not believe it, but Lucy is not so sure after seeing what happened when she put a photograph of her boyfriend in it.

The Girl with Flaxen Hair

Plot:

According to an old family curse, flaxen-haired Rosemary Polworth is not to see the second full moon after her thirteenth birthday. Rosemary does not believe it, but runs away rather than see her parents suffer on the night she is foretold to die. However, the parents send an agent out to find her, and he is not a pleasant type.

Bad Penny (1987)

Plot

Boastful and selfish Penny Thorpe had stolen  an old coin from a blind man. It was having a bad influence over her life, spoiling her chance to join school swimming team. She made sure the old penny was well and truly buried when a road outside he school was relaid — but, soon afterwards, Miss Melbury,the swimming teacher, had a road accident and Penny got the coin back.
