Annie

Plot

Annie Shepherd, an orphan loved children so was happy to find employment as a nanny. The stories were set in the early 20th century and followed her in different jobs. One such  post  was with Mr and Mrs Hamilton who had one child Harriet, aged 7. Harriet was desperately unhappy and hated her parents, but would not say why.  At another household  the father wants his daughters to be proper ladies, but this causes trouble.

Schoolgirl with a Secret

Plot

After Sandra Smith’s parents separated, she and her mother moved to Minfield. But to her dismay, Sandra discovered that her Dad had moved too—he was the new Headmaster at Minfield comprehensive. Until she and her Mum were permanently settled in Minfield, Sandra felt that neither of her parents should know the other was in the same town.

Slave to the Dolls

Plot

Josie King’s mother bought a Victorian doll’s house with family, housekeeper and cook – but no servant doll. Josie became the servant doll, powerless to resist the call of bullying Mrs Higgins, the housekeeper doll. Believing it to be her only escape, Josie was determined to find the missing doll and put her back in the house.
