Little Miss Moneybags [1982]

Plot

Orphaned Shirley Richards was living in Cedar Lodge Children’s Home.  She was amazed when Mr Brown, her father’s solicitor, told her that her parents had left her a fortune. Shirley wanted to be fostered, but she decided to keep her wealth a secret until the right foster parents were found for her.

Robbie’s Rovers

Plot

There were two football teams in the town of Bayford — the snooty Apollo and the Rovers. Live-wire Roberta Page, whose three brothers played for the Rovers, was hoping that the Rovers would win the Brent Cup. She felt sure this would cheer up their injured organiser and trainer, John ‘Fallon, who was in hospital.

The Champion from Nowhere

Plot

On returning home one evening, Helen and  Mike Kirby discovered a girl lying on their doorstep. The girl could remember nothing of her past, not even her own name, but she proved that she was a fine athlete. The Kirbys called the girl Anne, and promised to look after her until she was claimed.

Bonny from the Backwoods

Plot

Orphaned Bonny Boon and her dog, Smokey, lived in a cave on the outskirts of the American frontier town of Crystal Springs. Bonny made a living by trapping and selling fur pelts, and because of her wild way of life, all but one of the grown-ups of the town treated her as an outcast. Bonny warned them that the fierce Shawnee Indians were about to attack Crystal Springs. At first, Bonny was not believed, but finally the town prepared to defend itself against the Shawnee raiders …

Before the Boat Comes In

Plot

Tessa Bell had the best of  intentions when she exchanged a photo which her widowed mother was sending to an old boyfriend in Australia, for one taken when Mum was much younger and slimmer. To Tessa’s horror, Mum’s friend, Tom Logan, decided to return home for a holiday, and Tessa became desperate to get Mum to slim down before Tom’s boat came in.

Plot

Rita Rodgers was determined to get her name in the Gainless Book of Records, but so far her record breaking attempts were unsuccessful.

Notes

  • The Gainless Book of Records is clearly a substitute for Guinness Book of Records, maybe name was changed due to copyright or potentially so they were not advertising alcohol.

Slave of the Tennis Racquet / Sheena Slave of the Tennis Racquet

Plot

Thirteen year old Sheena Beck had been launched on her tennis career by Miss Julia Winter,  a famous instructor and ex – champion. Miss Winter’s strict and unusual training methods led to Sheena winning a number of tournaments and championships. As a result, Sheena attracted the attention / of the England tennis selectors.

Rent-a-Face from Rosie

Plot

Rosie Robson often helped out at her sister’s’ beauty salon. As a sideline, the girls started a special service – creating disguises for well-known people. Sometimes they even answered calls for help!
