The Sadness of Happy Jones

Plot

Life was hard for orphan Hazel Jones. Living with her Uncle Paul and Aunt Ena, Hazel was to do all the housework for her Aunt, who pretended to be an invalid. Hazel knew only one-way to keep her spirits up—by singing. Her greedy Uncle Paul realised there was money to be made from Hazel’s voice, and entered her for a television talent contest. Hazel quickly became a star, and was nicknamed ‘ Happy ‘, but the happiness was not real.
