Plot

Jo Dean lives with her grandparents at West-haven small-holding, where her grandfather is recovering from a serious operation. Most of the work falls on Jo, but she doesn’t mind, as she’s a girl willing to tackle any job. The Hardacres, who live on a big, neighbouring farm, are doing everything they can to get the Deans out of the holding.
