Plot
Betty Brown tries to run her horse-drawn barge single-handed after her father is injured. She is opposed by Jasper Palk, a land-owner who wants to close the canal, but she gets help from a mysterious stranger called Max.

The correct title of this serial, Lorraine, is ‘Bargee Betty’. With her father, Betty controls the barge as it makes its leisurely way along the local canal, pulled by their horse, which is on the towpath.
Thanks Derek, I’m not very familiar with the term “bargee” so my brain read it as Barge!
