Plot

When all the children of the farming village of Kirkwood are orphaned by a chartered plane crash, sixteen-year-old Anne Reeves persuades the authorities to grant a trial period to see if the children can look after themselves. Miss Crow, a county official who is against the project, is about to visit the village — and young Tommy Dawson has run away. Anne searches for him on horseback.
