15 thoughts on “Damian Darke

  1. One of my favourites was the first one, “Spectre of the Flame”, about a candlestick that is haunted by Judge Jeffries. Jeffries gives a burglar some very bloody Assizes!

  2. The Damian Darke series in DEBBIE did not have an unbroken run from 258 to 325, as stated above. It ran from 258 [the first DEBBIE and SPELLBOUND] to 274. Issues 275 and 276 both had a story from Cremond Castle instead. I don’t have 277 but 278 to 281 all have a Damian Darke story. I don’t have 282 to 285, but there is one in 287, but not in 286, 288, 289 or 290. I don’t have the time to investigate further tonight, but I will keep alert for any further clarification from members, facts always being preferable to guesswork.

    1. On the second page of post, I have been updating list of stories, just forgot to update on 1st page, I’ll update it tomorrow. There are episodes in 282-285 and 287.

  3. “The Doorway to Danger” (Debbie #273) is drawn by Norman Lee. Do you have the title for the story in Debbie #354?

  4. The stories I liked were the ones about the days of the week (Monday’s Child, Tuesday’s Child etc) and girls who personify the characteristics of a child born on that day. They all go on to have sticky ends! The only two I had were “Saturday’s Child” and “Sunday’s Child.” I’d love to know what happened to the other girls in the series!

    1. I only have the Tuesday’s Child – Damian Darke story from Mandy #860. “Tuesday’s Child is full of Grace” in it Sarah is a great dancer, but no partner is good enough for her she demands perfection and wants to be the best. She goes to a man who makes life size mechanical dolls, who seem almost magical, to make her the perfect partner. He does it and the doll dances brilliantly but she can’t escape its grip when it accidentally dances off a cliff. Sarah survives but can never walk again, she becomes a teacher, and Damian ends story saying she learned that “grace” also means kindness and love.

  5. Jinty also had a days of the week series, which she ran twice. The Tuesday’s Child full of grace was about a girl who seems anything but graceful (shy, put upon by siblings, and pudgy), but her selfish, thoughtless siblings learn she really is full of grace in terms of being kind and they should be more like her.
