  1. Does the 1963 annual include a story about a maid who receives a teasmaid as a Christmas present? I read this story as a child, it was in an annual but I can’t remember if it was Bunty or 1963.

    1. I’m afraid that this story isn’t in the Bunty 1963 Annual, nor in any of the other Bunty annuals of the early 1960s. Can you remember anything else about the story? Was it a picture strip story or an illustrated text story? Can you recall any other annuals that you read apart from Bunty? Roughly what time period would this fall into (ie the years during which you were reading girls’ comics/annuals)?

      1. Thank you for checking. It was a text story. It is significant for me as, aged 7, I was given I think an annual with the story in it. It was a Christmas present from someone who had donated it for us children who were living in a hostel for homeless families. I have always hoped to re read it, in much improved times! I am afraid I only remember the short story, a maid whose job was to serve tea. She was given a teasmade as a Christmas present from her employers and she was very upset!

        1. Thanks. Assuming you were 7 years old sometime around 1963, I’ve checked the main other girls’ comic annuals for 1962-1964 (June, Princess, School Friend, Girls’ Crystal), without success.

Another possibility is that it could have been in one of the girls’ annuals not connected to a comic title. There were quite a few of these, with names like “Schoolgirl’s Annual” and “Supreme Book for Girls”. Unfortunately I don’t have any of them, so can’t check them. However, you may find some details of them on eBay listings.

Sorry I can’t be of more help.
