Willpower Winnie

Plot

Winnie Wilson, a third former at Harcombe School, buys a small carved figure in an antique shop. She finds that “Willie”, as she calls him, gives her the power to will people to do whatever she wants. Only her study chums, Joan Johnson, and Googie Gordon know her secret. Unknown to Winnie, a stranger has been inquiring about “Willie” at the antique shop. willpower winnie

Powder Potts

Plot

Polly Potts worked in the cosmetics department at Heston’s department store with her friend Ann Hill. Polly was ambitious and longed to do well at her job, but she was so shy she let other people walk all over her. She had a sudden boost of confidence when a new mix of powder accidentally got on her.

Ten Green Bottles [1970]

Plot

The Barret family were  “going up in the world.” First Mr Barret gained promotion at work —then Mrs Barret decided that they should take a larger house the country, as the next step up the ladder. Seventeen-year-old Laura Barret was all in favour of the change, but twelve-year-old Una wasn’t so happy. In their new house she found ten bottles hidden away, each time she opened one it caused whoever was exposed to the perfume to behave in strange ways…
