My Father – My Jailer

Plot

Ellie Roberts, after having led a secluded life with her father on a remote farm in the Welsh mountains, was suddenly thrust into the turmoil of London. She had discovered a strange attraction in table tennis, her amazing thought-reading abilities enabling her to anticipate an opponent’s tactics. Her father became obsessed with her career, entering her for the National Junior Championships. She was kidnapped by a woman publisher who claimed to be her mother, but, after Ellie had been photographed for a magazine, she discovered that the woman had lied to her!

Sandi’s Secret Services

Plot

Sandi Peters lives with her Aunt Madge, Uncle George, and cousins Bridget and Clara. She is an unpaid servant who is expected to wait on her lazy uncle and spoiled cousins, and slave as a seamstress for her aunt’s clothes business, which the aunt does not run honestly. Sandi discovers a passion for table tennis, but has to find ways to get away from the work her guardians lumber her with in order to practise and compete in secret. This is not always easy.

Takeaway Terry

Plot

Life wasn’t easy for twelve year old Terry. Her Dad spent most of his time at the pub while her Mum was bingo mad, leaving Terry spending all her spare time doing housework and looking after her baby brother. Then her like of takeaway food brought a new complication – Mr Chung, the owner of the takeaway, discovered she had a talent for table tennis, and he wanted to train her to championship level.

Ping Pong Patsy / Powerhouse Patsy

Plot:

Sixteen year old Patsy Hanley is a mill worker in Blackshire and also a powerful table tennis player. She gained her chance to play for the neighbouring county, Daleshire and is keen to make it to the top but playing means a lot of travelling and practice.

Princess of Sorrow

Plot:

After Suki’s British mother dies her father, the Sultan of Salaka, turns into a tyrant. Table tennis being the country’s major sport, the Sultan sends Suki on a course of ruthless training to make her a champion.  In the Salaka Physical Culture schools losers of matches had to become the victor’s slaves until they won back their freedom.

Anne of the Green Table

Plot

Anne Collins, the first-ever scholarship pupil at Renton College, was disappointed to  discover that her favourite sport, table tennis, was not played at her new school. The snobby girls at Renton College looked down on Anne, so she decided to join a Youth Club in the nearby town of Hillcrest, in order to make new friends, and play the game she loved.
