Della of the Downs

Plot

Orphan Della Stafford, a promising athlete, had been fostered by Les and Sheila Parker, an unscrupulous couple who wanted to train her to be a champion. In return they had promised her to save the Children’s Home which was threatened with closure when the lease expired. Della had made an enemy of the Parker’s daughter, Paula, who resented Dallas special treatment.

Mystery at Fairfax Hall

Plot

Katey Winslow has been chosen to read to Louise Fairfax, the invalid granddaughter of the local landowner. The forbidding housekeeper Madame Duvel seemed to have some hold over Louise and made it clear she did not welcome Katey’s visits. Despite this Katey returned to her hall determined to get to the bottom of the mystery which seemed to surround young Louise.

Play, Paula, Play!

Plot

After losing both parents in a car crash, Paula Sims was taken in by an aunt she didn’t know existed. It wasn’t long before Paula found out Aunt Vera only wanted an unpaid servant. Worst of all she sold Paula’s beloved violin and made her work in a grotty café. Mr Raibird, who had bought the violin allowed Paula to practice at his shop until she could buy it back.

Kitty and Cleo

Plot

Kitty’s big ambition was to become an actress, and she had gotten a part in a television commercial with her cat, Cleo. On the first day of filming, Cleo was stolen and Kitty was sure a girl called Philly was responsible.

Secret of the Sands

Plot

Jane had gone to the seaside to stay at Bella Vista Holiday home while her parents were away. On the beach Jane found an old metal box. Unable to open it she hid in the ruins of Roule Castle, returning later with her friend, Ben. When they uncovered the box they were chases by some sinister men who were also after the box, they managed to escape.

I’ll Make Her Love Me

Plot

In Victorian London 12 year old, Polly Peters escaped from the poor house where she had been taken after the death of her parents.  After an accident, Polly and her dog, Rags, were taken in  by businessman Mr Turner. When he had to go away for work, Mrs Turner rejected both of them, despite Polly’s effort to win her love, she even sent Rags away.
