Beth of Battle Harbour

Plot

Beth Poole was born in a small fishing village, in the year 1892, when Beth was 13 her family died of influenza. At the suggestion of the Dr. Wilfred Grenfell, she went with him to his Medical Mission at Battle Harbour to train as a nurse.

The Girl Who Gave Babies Away

Plot

In Victorian times, when orphan Betty Deakin discovers that she is ill, and has only a short time to live, she sets out to find good homes for her younger brothers and sisters.

“She’s Not My Mamma!”

Plot

Blind Arabella Ainsley was orphaned  when a shipwreck claimed the lives of her entire family. Then, one day, a woman claiming to be the girl’s mother arrived at Ainsley Hall and persuaded Arabella to go to the Blind School with a companion Miss Emmeline Edgeworth.
