Plot:
When Paula Barry’s soldier brother won her a brooch at a fair, she treasured it thinking it worth only pence. The brooch was a valuable heirloom stolen from elderly Lady Digley by her niece and nephew, Edith and Edward, who befriended Paula in an effort to regain the brooch. Paula’s brother was killed and she put the brooch away with his belongings. Then Paula’s foster-mother, Mrs Forest, was rushed to hospital.
