Plot:
Barbara Taylor runs ballet lessons in the East End of London in a converted stable. She takes in Jessie Tandy, a problem girl on the brink of being sent to approved school, in the hope that ballet will tame her as ballet is one thing that Jessie loves. But the girls are not friendly to Jessie because their parents have forbidden it, and this is making Jessie aggressive again.

Ramon’s dates for the story are correct but the English translation is incorrect. It’s title in BUNTY is ‘Pavement Ballerina’.
Funnily enough I just picked up a comic with Backstreet Ballerina, which appeared in Bunty in 1969. I do have a copy of the Lucky Charm reprint of Pavement Ballerina too, but I haven’t a post added on site for that story yet.
My comment above was simply responding to Ramon’s dates, and is of course accurate. If I had checked my complete listing of the serials in BUNTY from its first story, I would soon have spotted it, but naturally that was not something that was required at that time.
For the record, ‘Backstreet Ballerina’ appeared in BUNTY 561 (October 12 1968) – 579 (February 15 1969).
Thanks for the dates Derek.
