  1. I’m trying to find out the name of a comic/magazine that my mother used to buy for me when we lived in England in the early 1960’s. One issue came with a girls bracelet that had ballerina charms around it. Do you remember it?

    1. I know Diana comic had a charm bracelet free gift in the first issue and gave away several charms in the following issues, one of the charms was a ballerina. That would have been from 1963.

      1. The ‘Gay Ballerina’ lucky charm (to wear on the Golden Chain Bracelet given away in issue 1 the previous week) was one of two free gifts in issue 2 of DIANA (2 March 1963). The other one was a ‘Lucky Horseshoe’. There were two more lucky charms (‘to wear on your Golden Chain Bracelet’) in issue 3, but unfortunately, as I don’t have issue 2, I don’t know what they were.

  2. I grew up with Bunty in Edinburgh, couldn’t wait to get home lunch time from school and pick up our comics and Moms magazines on Monday.

My question is, on the Photo stories, I thought I remembered Ian McShane, younger, in the stories, I would love to know. Thank you

    Carol

    1. I don’t know of a photo story with him in it, but it is possible, there were some people who made their start modelling for those stories. I believe George Michael was one. There was a tread about appearing in photo stories on the comicuk forum, so I’ve asked if anyone remembers one with Ian.

  3. A few more artist names:

    • The Dancing Life of Moira Kent (Pages: 7-14) [Artist Ron Smith]
    • The Four Marys (Pages: 26-31) [Artist James Walker]
    • There Will Always Be a Boko (Pages: 33-37) [Artist George Ramsbottom]
    • Lyn Raymond, Air Stewardess (Pages: 75-80) [Artist Ron Forbes?]
    • Her Doctor Had 4 Legs (Pages: 86-91) [Artist Ron Forbes?]
    • Parachute Nurse (Pages: 120-124) [Artist Ron Forbes?]

    Text Stories

    • Lance –Corporal. Sally (Pages: 52-54) [Artist Ron Forbes?]

The inclusion of Ron Forbes is a little speculative, and I’d be grateful if anybody could confirm whether or not I’ve got this right.

  4. I enjoyed reading Bunty so much as a young girl, I raced to the News Agents Saturday mornings to collect my copy. Christmas morning My favourite present would be my Bunty Annual. I once had a poem printed on the letters page, winning a 10 shilling postal order – this I think felt like winning the National Lottery today.

  5. Very nostalgic reading these, my favourite bit from bounty was the paper dolls and dressing them. , and of course the Three Mary’s , these were great
