  1. Here are a few suggested artist names:

    • Terry and the Terrible Twins (Pages: 13-16) [Art: Doris Kinnear]
    • Dopey Dora – The Hope of the School (Pages: 28-30) [Art: Charles Morgan]
    • Base-Line Barbie (Pages: 46-48) [Art: Ron Smith]
    • Katy O’Connor (Pages: 56-59) [Art: Ron Forbes?]
    • The Secret of the Red Balloons (Pages: 63-65) [Art: E C Julien]
    • The Dancer from the Isles (Pages: 66-70) [Art: George Ramsbottom]
    • Margie the Swimming Marvel (Pages: 79-81) [Art: Ron Forbes?]
    • Mirror, Mirror – (Pages: 107-109) [Art: E C Julien]

Personally, I’m not sure that the cover of Bunty #68 (Page 19) is by Doris Kinnear. The technique is certainly good enough for her, but I think it lacks her individuality, and the drawing/inking seems a touch stiff in places. I wonder if this might be a very good quality substitute drawing in her style.

    1. Thanks Goof. I see what you mean about cover 68 not quite up to Doris’ usual cover, so possibly an imitator.

  2. I would like to point out that this edition of Bunty for Girls Golden Age Classic Stories is Volume 2. Volume 1 was published in 2009 and has various drawings of the Bunty character on the cover whereas this edition was published in 2010. It also has similar content to this book. I have noticed that there isn’t a page for the first BFGGACS book and its contents on this website.

Upon looking at the first The Four Marys story about a change of school uniform design in this book, this book says that the story was published in the 1960s. When I saw a panel from that story in the first BFGGACS book, I noticed a date from the 1970s on it. I’m now unsure if that story was published in the 60s or the 70s or if it was originally published in the 60s and reprinted in the 70s.

Although I’m not sure which annual the second The Four Marys story with the puppies in this book originally appeared in, it was updated for the Bunty 2001 annual with new artwork by Jim Eldridge.

Finally, this book says that Sally and Her Seal was published in the comic in 1969. On the page about this story on this website, it says it was published in 1959. I have no idea which of these dates is correct.

    1. Thanks April, I don’t have the other book but for some reason I thought this one came 1st.

There were Four Marys stories in the weekly comics that first appeared in 1960s and were reprinted in 1970s.

  3. Just to clarify for you, April, ‘Sally And Her Seal’ first appeared in BUNTY 90 (3 October 1959) – 100 (12 December 1959). It was repeated in BUNTY 601 (19 July 1969) – 611 (27 September 1969). A further, and final, repeat popped up in BUNTY 1132 (22 September 1979) – 1142 (1 December 1979).
