Toni at Toffman’s [1965]

Plot

Toni Toffman has promised her dying father that she will save the family store from being taken over by Brummer’s, a rival firm. But Toni has to contend with elderly, slow, old-fashioned staff who resent her interference. Unknown to Toni, the staff manager, Mr Kirk, is secretly sabotaging her and encouraging the resentful staff because he is in collusion with Brummer’s, who have promised him the general manager’s job when they take over.

Diane and the Ducking Stool

Plot

“When you feel the splash of water – do the will of Annie Potter!” That is the curse that fell on the mother of Diane Morris, following an accident with an ancient ducking stool. Long ago,  Annie was put to death as a witch and now Mrs Morris was enslaved into taking revenge on the people of Crickley especially the Tiley family. Diane didn’t know about the spell and as her father had died some months before, she blamed this for her mothers odd behaviour.

Baby Doll

Plot

Ever since Dolly Jarvis’ father went missing after a plane crash, Dolly’s mother had blocked out the event in her mind by reverting to the days when Dad was just on a business trip and Dolly was just 7 years old. Dolly was determined to keep it a secret for fear of ruining her mother’s happiness, but this caused a lot of trouble for her.
