After a fall, orphan Angela Black seemed to lose the use of her legs. Even doctors and specialists were fooled by Angela, who had discovered that being “cripple” had advantages. Now, she had been given a home with the young film star, Karen Sands, and had managed to wangle a small film part for herself.
Hilda Newman had discovered a love of horse riding, which her mother strongly objected to, because Hilda was blind and she was afraid she would get hurt. People were also against Hilda’s horse, Buccaneer, who worked well with Hilda but was good tempered around others due to mistreatment in the past.

Julia Hardy went to college and wanted to leave her pony, Penny, with someone. Two girls were keen to take her, Marion and Donna were taking turns looking after her. Sally Slater, who loved Penny was keeping an eye on Penny as she was not happy with the arrangement.

Jessica Weston suspected she was really Jill Shelton who, as a baby, had been stolen by the couple looking after her. Now she was on the trail of Susie Shelton, her older sister.

Plot:
Kay and Marion Digby along with Jean Ritchie, a friend, had set sail to an uncharted area of the Caribbean Sea in search of their father Professor Digby, who was unaccountably missing. After being caught in a tornado, the girls found them-selves on a strange exotic floating island of weeds and flowers.
