Sarah’s Search

Plot

Sarah Grey’s father was lost at sea after a cliff-top car crash. but Sarah was convinced that he was still alive. Strange messages flashed into her mind, seeming to come from him. While Sarah followed these clues, her Uncle Bert and Aunt Winnie were close behind. Sarah had lived with them after the accident, and they planned to make a lot of money from her strange mental powers.

Jackie and Jill [1970]

Plot

The Paton twins had just moved to a new home in Bexley  Park, about twenty miles from London. Jackie was a keen athlete, but Jill didn’t care for sport at all although she was a natural athlete.

Esky Mo

Plot

When Old Bart dies he leaves everything to his adopted Eskimo daughter, Monakapanik or Mo for short. Mo thinks this means she will be in charge of his general store in the Canadian Arctic and is surprised to find out Old Bart was actually a knight and wealthy man. She goes to England to stay with his relatives in England, who were not so happy about it.

Hungry Harriet

Plot

Harriet Potts had a good chance of winning the schools tennis championship for Greystones School—providing she could be prevented from overeating. Emma Hale, Harriet’s friend, had been given the job of keeping Harriet away from food. It was hard work, but Emma eventually got Harriet as far as the final.

The Name Game

Plot

Daisy March, a fourteen-year-old year-old orphan, who lived at Sunnyvale Children’s Home, had been abandoned as a baby, and she got her name because she was found in March with a daisy chain round her neck. It was discovered that Daisy’s name had never been registered, so she decided to choose her own. She had found, however, that living up to the meaning of the names she had chosen was not very easy.
