Ella and the Electrids

Plot

Ella Gibson, a pupil at Cragmere Grange, was struck by lightning  on the moors. She was unhurt, but on her right wrist was the print of a horseshoe from a chain bracelet given to her by Josh Jessop. He was the village blacksmith, who said it would protect her from evil.  During another storm, a weird whirling shape formed out of the rain and entered the school’s sick room, but when Ella thrust out the horseshoe, the thing disintegrated. Later, Ella found she attracted metal object – like a human magnet. The swirling shapes that Josh named the Electrids, took control of several people at her school.

Bonnie Scotland the Girl with the Skirl

Plot

Bonnie Scotland’s talent for playing the bagpipes had gained her a scholarship to Cameronian College. USA, where it was the tradition to have a piper for ceremonial occasions. One of Bonnie’s duties was to play the pipes in the morning to waken everybody.

Jenny’s Magic Patch

Plot

Jenny Warren’s jeans came back from the cleaners with a mysterious bright swirly patch sewn on to the back pocket. Then strange things began to happen to Jenny as she found when she rubbed the patch she could travel back in time.

“I Don’t Want to be a Champion!”

Plot

Though both her parents were Olympic Champions, thirteen year old Kate did not excel at sports. So she was very surprised when she won a scholarship to Olympus Academy, a school which aimed to turn out super athletes with the help of machines. It turns out she was chosen due to an error, but the other girls in the academy wanted Kate to stay, because while she wasn’t a great athlete, she was a talented cook.

Charley Boy!

Plot

Thirteen year old, Sara Kent was a boarder at Clifftops school for girls while her parents were abroad. When her nine-year-old  brother’s school was destroyed by fire, Miss Talbot, Sara’s headmistress, offered Charley a home till other arrangements could he made. Things were never dull with Charley around!

A Girl Called Bright Star

Plot

Ming-Hsing, whose name meant Bright Star, was  smuggled into England by Mr and Mrs Stryvers — The Stryvers hoped that Ming- Hsing’s coaching would help their daughter Cynthia to become junior Table Tennis champion of England. Ming-Hsing had a strange bat with a carved jade handle, which she had been told to show to as many people as possible in the hope that a mysterious -“someone” would recognise it.
