Daughter of the Champion

Plot

Reg Bruce, a world cycling champion died in a road accident, but before he died his daughter, Lynn, promised him that she would practise until she became a champion herself. Lynn’s mother, however, forbade her to cycle again, but Lynn found a friend in Miss Lawson of Lackley Grange. Not only did Miss Lawson allow Lynn to practise in a large empty room in her house, but she also lent her an old bicycle.

Two on a Tandem

Plot

Val Slade, a well off girl, due to circumstances her holiday plans change and with her mother away from home, she takes a tandem bike on the road. She buys a puppet show second hand to earn money along the way. She meets Tina, a gipsy girl, with a very different life from hers. They team up cycling towards Uppingsham. On their way, they give puppet shows, but they were being followed by a man and a woman who wanted the little theatre desperately — but for a reason unknown to the girls.

Whirlwind Winnie

Plot:

Winnie Wright, a fourteen-year-old orphan, was  adopted by her Uncle Bert. Her cousin, Jane, was an ardent racing cyclist and, much against the wishes of her relatives, Winnie had taken up cycling, too. The previous year Jane had won the area junior cycling championship and this year Winnie was determined to beat her. But, in order to enter, Winnie had to win her club championship, something Jane was out to prevent.
