Polly of the Paladin

Plot:

Polly Patten, daughter of the housekeeper at the Paladin School of Dramatic Arts, was being given secret lessons by Yolanda Danvers, the star pupil at the school. Yolanda was trying to ruin Polly’s considerable talent in case she won a grant and became a rival. After Yolanda had a slight accident, she unwittingly revealed her plan to Polly.

Plot

Prove You Want Me

Plot:

Orphan Pam Lacey’s newfound happiness at being fostered by the Dexters was ruined when a spiteful schoolmate persuaded her that Pam’s new family, had taken her on solely to gain a large allowance from the local council. Pam felt that she must prove to herself that they really wanted her and not the money.  When she is chosen to be understudy for school play,  a misunderstanding leads Mrs Dexter to think Pam has the lead.

The Saving of Sister Susie

Plot

Orphaned sisters Jane and Susie Miller were given a home by their greedy Aunt Margo and Uncle Harry. Jane was used as an unpaid servant, but was more concerned about her aunt and uncle’s plans to exploit Susie as a child model.

Poor Little Rich Girl [1987]

Plot

Unknown to the girls of Seaton Towers  School for young ladies, Helen Bagshott-Hunt was being forced to shun them by her guardians, Aunt Dolly and Uncle Walter. They wanted to get their hands on the Bagshott fortune which had been left in trust to Helen and her younger sister, Shirley. Miss Speedwell, the new sports mistress, found that Helen, in spite of herself, was good on the track.

Plain Jane [1971]

Plot

Plain Jane Rose enters for a competition which has as its first prize; a holiday in Hawaii. That would be just right for Jane’s widowed mother who works very hard, pandering to the needs of her three other beautiful, but lazy, daughters.

Pam on the Purple Planet

Plot

Nurse Pam Massey is transported, car and all, to the distant Purple Planet in outer space, where a mysterious illness threatens to wipe out the Volentian population. The sickness turns out to be whooping cough! Pam agrees to cross to the uninhabited side of the planet to find a cure. She is accompanied by a six-legged dog called Zeta and a Davit, a flying machine controlled by the Volentians.

House of Fear

Plot

Rich young heiress Diane Revell,  is terrified by the strange things which happen in her home, Dagwick House, at nights. Her guardians, Aunt Grace and Uncle Ramon, believe she is only having nightmares and the local doctor is treating her for that. Then Diane befriends runaway orphan Janice Maltby, who promises to help Diane uncover the truth. Jan hides in a secret room behind Diane’s bedroom wall.

Goldie – Little Dog Lost

Plot

In 1940 with her father lying in hospital injured after a German air-raid, Lindy Lewis is searching London for Goldie, her pet cocker spaniel, who has run away. Goldie is due to have pups any day. Lindy is living temporarily with Betty Tripp and her family. Betty’s sister, Mary, has lost the power of speech after an air-raid. Mary takes Lindy to a bomb site where she saw a stray spaniel. With the help of Rags, a mongrel Lindy has befriended, she recovers a spaniel puppy from a hide-out under some debris.
