Cherry’s Challenge

Plot

Fourteen year old Cherry Smith helped her parents run their small farm. Her best chum was a colt named Fancy that she helped break in.  Cherry was trying to form a team to enter gymkhana events.

Plot:

Pinkie Wayne was a British Secret Service agent operating in a German occupied France in 1940.  Her mission was to find a series of dolls each containing a secret message, left in various places by her sister, Sylvia, who was now a prisoner in German hands.

The Silver Skates

Plot:

In Holland, Hans Brinker and his sister Gretel want to compete in December’s great ice skating race on the canal and have a chance of winning the precious prize of silver skates.  Their father is very ill and Hans and Gretel have to work hard  to support the family.

Tufty- The Tale of a Pony

Plot:

Jean Walker was among twelve riders of Springfield Pony Club undergoing a trial for the Stanton Cup team. The five riders who did the best in the trial would be chosen for the actual team.  Tufty, Jean’s pony, was not a thoroughbred riding pony like the others in the club, but despite his rather ungainly appearance, Tufty was very intelligent and willing to learn.

Friendly Frances

Plot:

Frances Thornton worked for the “Can We Help U Agency”. She gets sent on a variety of assignments such as being an extra assistant at a modelling shoot.  Her boss Mr Forrest was pleased with her success on her various jobs.

Nobody’s Darling

Plot:

Liz Reynolds was put into the care of Mrs Langridge, a kindly old woman,  after the arrest of her good-for-nothing father.  Young Liz was too independent to appreciate her new guardian’s love and  kindness.  One day, Liz disobeyed Mrs. Landgridge’s  orders and visited  the forbidden west wing of the house. While there she found a portrait with it’s face to the wall, turning it around Liz saw the face of a beautiful  lady.  later Liz is surprised when Mrs Langridge flew into a temper over her turning of the portrait.

Plot:

Sue at the Wheel

Plot:

Sue Horner worked at her aunt’s café, delivering home-made cakes to customers living in the country. Sue loved driving much more than cooking, although her aunt didn’t understand her attachment to her car “Jemima”.
