The Courage of Kathy

Plot

When gold was discovered in the Klondike in North America, young Kathy Grant was left in the care of Mrs Smart, a cruel storekeeper. Kathy’s father set off for the gold-fields to try to make his fortune. The money her father had left ran out, and Kathy was forced to slave for Mrs Smart. Determined to join her father somehow, Kathy saved any tips she got for the laundry service she ran for Mrs Smart. Then Kathy spent all  her savings to buy an injured husky, whose master was going to kill him.

Prince the Dog of Destiny

Plot

Betty Brown was a lonely girl. She had no  friends at school and was forced to work like a slave for her unpleasant guardians. Finally she could stand it no longer, and ran away. She made for the seaside, but was as lonely as ever until an unusual dog called Prince swam out of the sea and made friends with her. Just after meeting Prince, Betty was invited to a wonderful party. In some mysterious way Prince was able to guide Betty to do things that would bring her happiness.

Netta’s Newshound

Plot

Netta Norris worked as a reporter for the Stickleford Gazette, a small country newspaper run by her Uncle George. She was helped in her work by Sam, the office dog. Only Netta knew that Sam was actually Sam Bates,  a former ace newsman, who had been turned into a dog after an unfortunate incident with an alien spaceship.

Big Bernie

Plot

Fairway was a home where nine children lived happily in the care of their house parents, Mr and Mrs Glover. One day, a large St Bernard dog arrived and refused to leave. Enquiries failed to find his owner and the children named him Big Bernie. Bernie soon won all hearts, and the children hoped to keep him for ever.

Scruffy

Plot

Emma Lawrence had moved to the country with her widowed mother to live with her grandad. Emma adopted Scruffy, a stray dog and dog trainer, Janet Wells, had been helping Emma to train Scruffy. Emma had just entered Scruffy in his first agility competition.
