Plot
Clare and Emma are best friends who both fancy Robbie Jenkins. They do not want to fall out over him, so they try to be friendly rivals.

Tina Patterson has never had much luck in making friends because she is shy and quiet. Then her bigheaded but good looking cousin Joe arrives from Australia to stay with her. All of a sudden, all the girls want to be friends with Tina.
Vicky Page and Pam Reid have always hated each other, but now they are both looking for a new friend as theirs have gone to another town. This leads to more animosity between them as each tries to outdo the other in finding a friend and even playing tricks to sabotage each other’s efforts. As a result, neither of them is succeeding in finding a friend.
The Watson family have always been hard up, but become rich when Mum wins big on the pools. The daughter Kathy, believing in “fair shares”, is determined to share her good fortune with her friends. Unfortunately her generosity always seems to backfire and make her unpopular.
Next door neighbours Gwen Hammond and Jane Morris have been friends ever since they can remember. But their friendship is threatened when they start at Vale Park Seniors School and are put in different houses, which has them competing against each other.
Janet Osbourne and Tracey Mullins are best friends, and are dismayed to find they are being sent to different schools. They resolve to keep their friendship nonetheless. At her new school, Janet makes best friends with Anne. When she finds out Anne is really Mary-Anne, the cousin Tracey dislikes, she sets out to keep her friendship with the cousin secret from Tracey.
