WHen Anna Craven accidentally discovered that she was adopted, she was upset to think that her parents had lied to her, and grew increasingly jealous of her sister, Jane. Anna decided that in order to make her parents favour her, she would do everything possible to discredit Jane.

Penny Bridger had to leave her old school when the pupils discovered that she had deliberately broken up a romance between two classmates, Rick and Lindy, just so that she could have Rick. When Rick discovered what Penny had done he immediately went back to Lindy. Penny was furious and vowed that if SHE couldn’t have the boy she wanted NO ONE could have a boyfriend!
When Melanie Brook, the new headmaster’s daughter, arrived at Carford School, popular Janice Lee was jealous of all the attention Melanie received. Frightened of losing all her friends, Janice decided to make the others think that Melanie was mean and spiteful, just because she was the Head’s daughter.
Clare Knowles and Lindy Bateman had always been best friends, so when Clare found a boyfriend,Ken Radcliffe, Lindy felt rejected. She vowed to break them up, in order to have Clare to herself again.
Things began to go wrong for Sarah Milton the day her French penpal, Louise, arrived on an exchange visit. Louise and Sarah’s boyfriend, Colin, had become close friends, and no matter how hard Sarah tried to keep them apart, things never seemed to go her way.
Twins Lucy and Lisa Clayton are sad when their parents split up, but comfort themselves with the thought that they have each other. Then, when their gran moves in, she seems to favour Lucy over Lisa and Lisa feels left out.
