Zara

Plot

Zara comes as a new girl to Highdene where she shares a study with Shena Stuart and Cindy Brown. The head-mistress tells them that Zara is an Arabian princess hiding from her father’s enemies. Shena thinks there is something uncanny about Zara, but even she doesn’t guess that the new girl has amazing mental powers and can control people’s minds. Nor does Shena know that only she, for some unknown reason, is immune to Zara’s powers.

The Black Marks

Plot

Four girls at Scotford School became suddenly affected by strange black marks which appeared on their wrists. At the same time, they developed superhuman strength and an ability to run at great speed. Professor Burton, investigating the mystery, traced the girls to a lonely house in grounds guarded by a special fence and wild cheetahs. Carrie Norton volunteered to go in and investigate the house, where she discovered that the girls were being controlled by a man whose face she glimpsed on a close-circuit television network.

The Girl Who Knew

Plot:

Laurie Scott falls into the power of a scientist who is somehow taking control of her mind and turning her into a genius while destroying her personality. She cannot remember how it happened, but then she finds Alicia, a girl who experienced the same thing and is beginning to remember.

Strangers

Plot:

When Mrs Devere, a scientist, moves into Raven’s End (a large house), Rachel Grant finds her a dragon and unfriendly woman who seems to hold her daughter Laura a virtual prisoner. Mrs Devere suddenly becomes friendly to Rachel’s classmates, and soon after they start behaving as if they are brainwashed, acting like strangers, and do nothing but study. It gets worse when Mrs Devere gets a teaching job at Rachel’s school. Then Rachel discovers that Mrs Devere was sacked from her previous school for strange, unethical teaching methods – and Laura is not her daughter.

Plot

Conrad, the evil ventriloquist’s doll under the influence of his master, the Toymaker had gained control of the pupils of school.  Only Cathy Mason knew about Conrad tricks and was trying to stop him.
