The Goal-Scorer

Plot:

Linda Marshall would like to play on the netball team but she has a weak leg. However her dog Chum has helped her practice with such things as passing balls and dodging. But Chum has upset the new Laird and Linda has to hide him so he won’t be put down.

So You Want to be a Mermaid!

Plot:

Diane Lucas and Carolyn Fisher, see a synchronised swimming show while on a school trip and are interested in learning more about it.  A local councillor hires on  Dot Cameron as a second coach at the swimming pool. The team become the Mermaids.

The Dux from the Dead

Plot

The girls of St Paul’s Arroston, were known in Sussex as the Roast Chickens because their school badge showed the legendary Phoenix bird rising from its ashes. However, they were also called “chicken-hearted” because they rarely entered for sports events—until Annalie Pitt arrived. She was the double of Amelia Potts, a pupil from twenty years before, who had excelled in sport and school work.

Robbie’s Rovers

Plot

There were two football teams in the town of Bayford — the snooty Apollo and the Rovers. Live-wire Roberta Page, whose three brothers played for the Rovers, was hoping that the Rovers would win the Brent Cup. She felt sure this would cheer up their injured organiser and trainer, John ‘Fallon, who was in hospital.

Slave of the Tennis Racquet / Sheena Slave of the Tennis Racquet

Plot

Thirteen year old Sheena Beck had been launched on her tennis career by Miss Julia Winter,  a famous instructor and ex – champion. Miss Winter’s strict and unusual training methods led to Sheena winning a number of tournaments and championships. As a result, Sheena attracted the attention / of the England tennis selectors.

Jenna on the Run

Plot

Jenna, a young gipsy girl, lived in the grounds belonging to the Duchess of Wexland with her old horse, Noah. In return, she tended the Duchess’s gardens. Jenna loved running and had just discovered that she could run faster than any other girl at Bradton Athletic Club—but she deliberately slowed down so that she would finish the race in third place! She did this because she wanted the third place prize of a tree, to give to the Duchess. Unfortunately through misunderstanding the Duchess now believes she was wrong about Jenna’s running potential.

Away Went Wendy

Plot

Ann Adams, captain of junior hockey at Highcroft Comprehensive School, had made friends with an unusual new girl; Wendy Layne. Wendy played hockey in startling bursts of energy that made her unstoppable! The energy came on when Wendy combed her long hair.
