Plot

Pam Bateson had freed a pixie from a bottle. He vowed to stay with her and bring her good luck. But Pam was really fed up because everything he did seemed to go wrong.

Plot

Beverley Brunton was not only top of her class and good at sports, but she was also very popular with her classmates. Only one girl didn’t like Bev -Hazel Thomson. When Hazel overhears that Bev’s parents are splitting up, she takes joy in telling Bev and she implies that neither of her parents want her.

Plot

Beth Marshall was left to support her brothers and sisters when her mother died. To her horror, Beth realised that she was losing her sight, and she became desperate to provide a future for the younger children before the blindness overtook her. Beth’s ruthless landlord, Mr Crumley, employed her as a seamstress.

Plot

The Square Peg

Plot

Peggy Price came from a family of winners, but Peggy didn’t seem to be good at anything. The Prices called her a square peg in a round hole. Only rich Aunt Katherine, who was visiting the family from Canada, appreciated Peggy’s caring, unselfish nature. When Mr Price ran into financial trouble, he asked Aunt Katherine for help. She agreed, on condition that the selfish Prices took a leaf out of Peggy’s book.

The Image of Iris

Plot

Iris Farrier found that by touching her reflection, she could release her twin image — Siri. But Siri caused so much trouble, for which Iris was blamed, that Iris was sent to Middleford Boarding School. Iris thought she was finally free of Siri until she received a postcard written backwards — in mirror writing! Iris ends up being trapped in the mirror and Siri taking over her life. A sequel had Iris break free.

Plot

Jill and Claire Cameron had been invited to  London by their older cousin, Miriam Hill, to watch a royal wedding. The girls booked into a hotel, but the next morning, Miriam had vanished. Not only had Miriam disappeared, but so had her room — Room 13.

Donna’s Dolls

Plot

Donna Davenport was trying to  track down some Victorian dolls that had been left to her in her Aunt Minnie’s will, but sold by unscrupulous relatives who had inherited everything else. Donna was convinced that her aunt had made a later will, and had hidden it in one of the dolls.
