Pandora’s Box

Plot:

Pandora Lake returned from Japan to stay with her only living relative, aunt Beth Markham, who ran a boarding school for girls. A mysterious box Pandora had brought with her contained evil emotions which had escaped and influenced Pandora’s behaviour. The spirit of deceit had made Pandora read another girl’s poem in a poetry competition.

The Revenge of Verna

Plot:

Verna Villiers bore a secret grudge  against her relatives, the Hayden family and vowed revenge on them for refusing to help her father who had died in poverty. After Verna set up a jewel robbery at Hayden House, the family faced financial ruin. But the woman crook who had been tipped off by Verna was found and brought to the house, in an effort to identify the informer.

Fiona and the Ring of Fergus

Plot:

When Fiona Miller’s family was put under a curse by gypsy Meg Fergus, Fiona secretly volunteered to wear the Ring of Fergus for a year and a day, thereby taking all the bad luck on herself. Fiona’s personality changed under the ring’s influence. She was already in trouble when the ring became entangled in her little sister’s hair and, in cutting it free, Fiona made matters worse.

The House of the Ravens

Plot

In the year 1812, Paula Ravenswood and her young brother, Nicholas, went to live at Ravenswood Hall after the death of their parents. Nicholas was the last heir to the House of Ravenswood, whose fortunes were guarded by ravens. It was said that disaster would come to the family when all the ravens had gone. Now only one remained, weak and injured. One day, Nicky ran to the stables and left the raven in a hiding place, the low, cool oven in the kitchen range.  A wind blew the  door open and a prowling cat entered the kitchen.

Danger Doll!

Plot

Since Tina Lee had joined the Bus Stop Players, a touring concert party, she had felt tormented by Don, the ventriloquist’s doll belonging to young Stephen Steed. Tina suspected that sometimes a little person dressed up in the dummy’s clothing to frighten her. One day, she managed to corner what she thought was the little person. Terrified, she called for Charlie Cheers, the Players’ leader.

Hazel of Hatfield Hall

Plot:

Hazel Hatfield was haunting the past as the family ghost because of a mix-up with a time machine that her uncle had invented. In 1870, Hatfield Hall was set ablaze by some poor children Carrie Hatfield was trying to educate. Hazel appeared, as she always did when a Hatfield was in trouble.

Children from the Stars

Plot:

When  a spaceship landed in the village where Beth Bantry lived, a force field was thrown round it cutting it off from the world. Strange children, with their teacher, Kong, appeared from the craft and took over the schoolhouse where Beth’s father was the schoolmaster. The villagers were growing tense and, due to the influence of Ogden Thorpe, an enemy of Beth’s father, one of the space-children was shot. The space-children used their amazing powers to save Clovis, the injured girl. Beth’s father hod gone missing, then he appeared, escorted by the space-children.

Jumping Julie

Plot:

Despite opposition from some players, Julie Linden  was a member of St Hilda’s netball team. Although she was very small, she was a brilliant shooter. Now she had to prove her worth in a vital match against Ravencroft, who were leading 3-0 at the first break–largely because Julie had played in bare feet because her shoes were missing. Julie returns in the sequel Jumping Julie and the Harlequins.

Selina the Silent One

Plot:

Selina Redfern, an  orphan unable to speak, lived with her grandparents in remote Eagle Valley, finding consolation in painting its creatures and wild beauty. The valley’s owner, Harvey Elton, wanted a licence to mine for minerals, but the inhabitants formed a preservation society. Stuart Bailey, an art teacher, offered to open an exhibition of Selina’s drawings to help save the valley. Selina, terrified of publicity, refused.

Danger, Min at Work!

Plot:

A humorous strip about Min’s attempts to find a job after she finishes school. She tries various jobs that don’t work out and she usually leaves a trail of destruction behind her.
