The Curse of the Connors [1989]

Plot

Rosina Connors runs away from school when she is wrongly accused. Rosina’s grandfather discovers another girl, Sara Ackford, was the true culprit. In retaliation he puts a curse on Sara’s family, which has Mrs Ackford fall mysteriously ill and her life is in danger. Grandfather tells Sara the curse won’t lift until Rosina is found, but she is still missing. Sara goes to find Rosina and eventually succeeds, and now it is a race to get to Sara’s mother in time.

Save Our Stables [1989]

Plot

Vicki Andrews, Ted Winters and Pam Burton are minding Wallingston Riding Stables because the owner, Mr Hodge, no longer has time to do so. Messrs Snudge and Sykes are out to buy the stables for property development, but Vicki and her friends don’t like the look of them.

Tommy Girl [1967]

Plot

During World War II, Tommy Clark’s parents are captured by the Germans and she is smuggled to her aunt’s at the Channel Islands. When the German occupation comes, Tommy encourages the Islanders into secret Resistance against the Nazis. Tommy has also found a way to spy on the Nazis at the school they have taken over as their headquarters. She discovers the Nazis are plotting “Operation X” and sets out to find out what it is. She learns the Nazis are bringing something concealed in boxes to the Islands via submarine and concealing them in the Whispering Cave.

Visit to Venus [1967]

Plot

In the year 2004, the first mission to Venus arrives on the planet. It loses contact with Earth and is given up for dead. In fact the crew (Captain Coleman and his daughter Vanessa,  and three crew members) are alive and fighting to survive against a dwindling supply of oxygen. Vanessa accidentally spills seeds on Venusian soil, which soon grow into super-growing trees. Then dangers threaten the astronauts, including a Venusian monster and their spaceship sinking into quicksand.

Pat Among the Ponies (1958)

Plot

The senior girls of Moordown Riding School are completing the last stage of their cross-country initiative test and must return by a certain time. Pat Farley is among them, but things go wrong and they go off course.

Annie’s Orphans [1967]

Plot

In the wake of the Great Fire of London, Annie Besson rescues seven orphans. They go to live on a barge where Annie is trying to teach them to read and write. They are joined by a mudlark, Jonno, who steals whatever he needs. Annie is trying to cure him of stealing, but Jonno eventually ends up in court.

Plot

Milly Mason is an expert marbles player, taught by her great-grandmother. They often find themselves using Milly’s marbles playing to combat unsavoury attitudes, such as snobbery and chauvinism.

Fiona’s Strange Inheritance [1967]

Plot

Fiona McKnock Smith has been wrongly accused of attempting to poison the Chief of the McKnock clan and is sent away from McKnock Island. She creeps back to prove her innocence. Johnny Duncan accompanies her. She discovers a plot to steal the clan jewels, which the cook Mrs Strong and her granddaughter Fiona are part of. The crooks, Hank and Shortie, take Fiona and servant Dugald prisoner. After they escape they overhear Hank and Shortie planning to dispose of Mrs Strong and her granddaughter once they are of no further use. They warn Mrs Strong of this. She tells them Hank and Shortie have a new accomplice. Then they see Johnny with Hank and Shortie. Is he the new accomplice or what?
