Caroline West, is the youngest teacher at Ellesmere Girls’ School. She is the school’s riding mistress,  a subject that the headmistress, Mrs Braydon, doesn’t fully approve of.

Plot

Swindlem Hall was an expensive school where riding was the main subject. The headmistress, Mrs Fleece, was so mean that she refused to spend a penny more than necessary on the girls and their mounts. The girls dared not complain because she knew something to the discredit of each of their families.

Plot

The senior girls of Moordown Riding School are completing the last stage of their cross-country initiative test and must return by a certain time. Pat Farley is among them, but things go wrong and they go off course.
