Molly in Lonely Wood

Plot:

Molly is confined to a wheelchair after a fall from a horse and becomes fed up with life. But then she starts helping a Mrs Wilson a naturalist who is writing  a book about the animals that live in a wood near her home and her recovery started to improve.

Kay of the 5 Horse-Shoes / Kay Hamilton – Show Jumper

Plot:

Kay  Hamilton was the youngest member of staff at at a famous riding school – The 5 Horse-Shoes. She had proven herself gifted at handling horses so Hector Deane, the owner, had decided to let her try her skill in the show ring.

Kay returns in a sequel in Kay Hamilton- Show Jumper. She is still the only girl groom at the 5 Horse-Shoes and she wished to train and ride a show-jumper of her own. Against Mr Deane’s wishes she buys with her own money an old champion White Star that had been sold off for slaughter. She tried to prove to Mr Deane that White Star could be a star show-jumper, and he agrees to let her house her at the stable but she will have to pay the same as any other client.

  • Appeared first as text story with spot art by Jimmy Crighton
  • Returned in a sequel as a picture story.
  • In the text story Kay’s surname is wrongly listed as Hammond in some episodes.

Orphan of the Circus / Star of the Circus

Plot:

Lili Monette, grew up in the circus and is a skilled trick rider. Then after her mother dies in a tragic trapeze accident, the circus owner Max Maynard, wanted her to take her mother’s place doing the dangerous leap of death stunt. Maynard manipulates Lili, by promising to give her closest friend Pipo, the clown, his job back if she does the stunt. She does not know that he had got rid of Pipo in the first place by telling him if he stayed away from the circus he wouldn’t make Lili do the trapeze. Meanwhile the fortune teller foretells death in the cards, and her trapeze partner Felix tries to persuade Maynard not to go through with his plan.

Lili returns in a sequel Star of the Circus

Parachute Nurse

Plot:

The story follows a nurse Susie Peters, that is also an expert parachutist, which is useful with her job at the small Mounted Police Post at Beaver Creek.

The Dancing Life of Moira Kent

Plot

Follows the life of Moira Kent an aspiring ballerina. Her grandfather who starts off disapproving turns into one of her biggest supporters and she has many adventures on her way to stardom.
