The Star with the Statue

Plot

Fourteen year old, Paula Pastaza had lived all her life in the village of San Miguel, high in the Andes. Then an old priest told her that she would bring fame to her village. Armed only with an old tennis racquet she believed was a weapon, and with a small statue of her people’s god—Jibaro —Paula set off for the nearest town. There she learned the true use of a racquet and showed amazing accuracy with it. She was advised that, with the help of a tennis coach in the state capital of San Fernando, she might become a tennis star.

Sara and the Survivors

Plot

In the year 2072, there are only six hundred people left in the world. One of these people is a young girl, Sara Stone, who has to survive in this terrifying world. During the 1980s soil pollution had brought deadly giant ferns which killed humans and made everything giant sized. The survivors lived in Portland which had been unaffected but the survivors made trips to the dangerous mainland to harvest the giant corn that grew there.

Nine Wishes for Nina

Plot

Nina Simpson was given nine wishes  by her antique wish-bone pendant comes true.Each of her wishes have come disastrously true and it says when she makes her ninth wish she will die.

Netta’s Newshound

Plot

Netta Norris worked as a reporter for the Stickleford Gazette, a small country newspaper run by her Uncle George. She was helped in her work by Sam, the office dog. Only Netta knew that Sam was actually Sam Bates,  a former ace newsman, who had been turned into a dog after an unfortunate incident with an alien spaceship.

Plot

The Trials of Tabby

Plot

When her father died, Tabby Harper was sent by her Uncle Giles to Greentrees boarding school, where her cousin Merril was also a pupil. At the school. Tabby made an enemy of Charlton, the school groom—who hated her and her mountain pony, Curlew. When Curlew disappeared, Tabby found that he had been sold to a circus. Tabby rescued Curlew, and set out for the only place where he would be safe—the moors round her old home in Larkspring.

My Sister Jinx

Plot

Young Vicky Conway nicknamed her pretty  elder sister “Jinx” because she was so superstitious. Vicky persuaded Jiux to enter a beauty contest organised by Talbot’s, the store where they both worked. Their parents desperately needed a holiday and the first prize was two weeks on the Costa Brava for the winner’s family.

The Silver Saddle

Plot

Janet Marlow, from Australia, was staying with her Aunt Helen  who owned a famous strain of Arabian horses which had been bred by the family for generations. She also owned a silver saddle bearing shields inscribed with the names of the riders and their Arabian mounts who had performed notable deeds. Janet begged her aunt to tell her the story behind each shield.
