Families at War!

Plot

The Carters and Simpsons have been bitter enemies since the day they became neighbours. Only the daughters, Polly Carter and Janet Simpson, are friends. The families get more friendly when Polly and Janet are chosen as queens for Carnival Week, but things are not going smoothly.

It Must be Luv

Plot

A series of short stories revolving around romance. Each story had its own title.

A Bit Green – Katie Brannon is happy when a recycling project brings her to Simon’s house. She keeps using recycling as an excuse to call over to his house, in the end he comes to visit her and she realises she didn’t have to make excuses to see him.

Brothers  Kim Mark was going round to see Tanya Thomson, the new girl who had just moved to town. When she meets her brother Luke, she likes him  but doesn’t know how he feels about her.

Star Wars – Zoe and Terry both like the same guy, Rob. Although Zoe gets a date with him first, Terry uses his belief star-signs to go out with her instead.

Bad Penny (1990)

Plot

Penny Masters had ditched her previous boyfriend, nice guy Paul Thomson, and started going out with troublemaker Rick Kelly, instead. At a party, Penny had spotted a girl wearing a necklace exactly the same as the one Rick had just given her for her birthday!

  • A popular title for stories, there was a humour strip of the same name in Smash! as well as, two other Judy stories had the same name in the 70s; Bad Penny (1977) and 80s; Bad Penny (1987)

Penny’s Place

Plot:

Regular feature which centres on “Penny’s Place”, a cafe run by Penny Jordan and her family in Chesterford.  Stories revolved around the cafe, Penny’s school, and her schoolfriends (Gemma, Arlene, Donna, Sita and others). The villains of the piece were the school bullies, Fran Jacklin and Maxine Abbott.

The Boy Zone

Plot

Complete stories about boyfriends and romance. Some had happy endings, some had not. Stories included a girl who makes up a boyfriend so she doesn’t feel left out of conversations, this backfires on her when a boy does ask her out, but on hearing she has a “boyfriend” doesn’t want to have anything to do with a two-timer.

Little Miss Music

Plot

Moira Trent is a talented flutist. She is being abused by cruel relatives who are after the money she will inherit when she turns 18. Moira’s only hope is James Antrim, a famous flutist who once promised to give her help if she needed it, but she needs to find him. So she goes on the run to do so.
