Have I Been Here Before?

Plot

Diane Dawson and her family move into Parfitt Court. Diane begins to have disturbing dreams in which she relives the hard life of Meg Hardy, who had once worked as a kitchen maid at Parfitt Court. Worse, Diana finds that she seems to experience parallels to her dreams in real life, such as falling ill of a fever while she dreams that Meg does and is in danger of death.

The Door to Yesterday [1967]

Plot

Kerry Hollis is staying with her Aunt Mabel for a holiday. She comes across a wardrobe and finds it is a time travel device, but only to the years 1985, 1885 and 1785. When Kerry goes to 1785 she finds its inventor meant it to take people to the future, in 1985. But instead it goes the other way, taking people from 1985 to 1885 or 1785. Kerry starts using the device for time travel to the past, but this gets dangerous for her when she is accused of witchcraft.

A Switch in Time [1984]

Plot

A mysterious girl named Kyra, claiming to be a relative from Australia, arrives at Melanie Clark’s house. Kyra seems to know little about modern life and arrived in Victorian clothes, which convinces Melanie that Kyra is from the year 1884. Then Kyra reveals she is really from 2084 and was sent back in time to 1884 for a history project. But her timeship crashed, stranding her in 1984. Melanie agrees to help keep her secret.

Freda Who?

Plot:

Freda arrives at Karen Wilkinson’s house with a letter from her father saying she is a distant relative of the family and they are to take care of her until he returns. But Karen realises there is something strange about Freda; there are peculiar gaps in her knowledge, she says odd things, and she does not seem to understand everyday life.

The Secret of Marion’s Music Box

Plot:

Marion Taylor is being looked after by her Aunt Madge and Uncle Wilf, who are cruel to her. She takes solace in her music box, which is magical. As Marion is the thirteenth girl to own it, she can travel back in time to meet the previous owners of the box.

Wanda and the Witches’ Brew

Plot:

Gail Howard helped her widowed mother run a small boarding housein Morsden. She met Wanda, a servant girl who worked for an alchemist in 1488 and had drunk  his time-jumping brew to land in 1978. Wanda wanted to return to her own time and Gail promised to collect the ingredients for the brew.

Hazel of Hatfield Hall

Plot:

Hazel Hatfield was haunting the past as the family ghost because of a mix-up with a time machine that her uncle had invented. In 1870, Hatfield Hall was set ablaze by some poor children Carrie Hatfield was trying to educate. Hazel appeared, as she always did when a Hatfield was in trouble.

Cybela

Plot:

Mysteriously transported  back to the present day from the overcrowded world of the year 2079, Cybela and her dog, Dee, were given a home by Gill and Paul Benson. At the house Paul had inherited from his uncle, Sir William Benson, Cybela learned that Sir William had made a breakthrough in time travel that could solve the population problems of her own time. Searching for the secret, Cybela found a hidden room, but was interrupted by Mrs Markham, the – mysterious housekeeper.

The Magic Mirror [1981]

Plot:

Something strange happens with the old mirror in Angie Durrant’s room. Angie finds herself in a different age, as a little slavey called Abigail. Another servant, Milton, cheats Lady Mirabel, the daughter of the house, and Angie gets blamed. Angie realises she is reliving the life of the real Abigail, who was blamed for Milton’s crime.
