The Little War on Coral Island

Plot

1n 1945 the war in the pacific was at its height. Peter and Mary orphaned and shipwrecked on a small island by a torpedo form a Japanese submarine found two Japanese children living in a hut on the same island they remained separate because their countries were still at war. As a result of a fight part of island where most of fruit trees grew burned down ad food became short. Eventually they have to learn to work together to survive.

Suzette’s Silent Army

Plot

During the second world war France was occupied by German troops and the Gestapo – the German secret police. Suzette Blanc and her English mother owned a small waxworks in the little town of St Pierre and unknown to the nazis the waxworks was the headquarters for the local freedom fighters and Suzette was helping with their operations.

Wings for Wendy

Plot

During the Second World War, Wendy Kenton loses her family in a bombing attack. Wendy, who is very interested in flying, is being looked after by Paula Standish and is living at an airbase. Paula belongs to the air transport auxiliary, a group of girl pilots who deliver new aircraft to the royal air force. Wendy hopes to earn her pilot licence as soon as she is old enough.

Mystery at Great Tor

Plot

During the war Rita Cooper and her brother Rolly were among the school children evacuated from London. They were sent to Great Tor a forbidding old mansion in Cornwall. While staying there the youngsters discovered that the domestic staff had a hoard of stolen treasure hidden in a cave under the house.

Brenda Far From Home

Plot

Brenda and her young sister, Dulcie, were evacuated from London and sent to live with Mrs Outing in a small village in the country during the war. Brenda and, Dulcie made friends with a local boy named Jem and together the three spied on Mrs Outing who acted very strangely and mysteriously at nights. Brenda overheard, Mrs Outing in her room speaking in a foreign language which she thought to be German.

Tommy Girl [1967]

Plot

During World War II, Tommy Clark’s parents are captured by the Germans and she is smuggled to her aunt’s at the Channel Islands. When the German occupation comes, Tommy encourages the Islanders into secret Resistance against the Nazis. Tommy has also found a way to spy on the Nazis at the school they have taken over as their headquarters. She discovers the Nazis are plotting “Operation X” and sets out to find out what it is. She learns the Nazis are bringing something concealed in boxes to the Islands via submarine and concealing them in the Whispering Cave.

Sailor Sally – She’s all at Sea [1973]

Plot

In World War II Sally Dixon joins the Royal Navy as a Wren. The trouble is, she’s a jinx and things just seem to go wrong around her. Fortunately nothing goes wrong when Sally hauls a mine out to sea for a destroyer to deal with – except that she gets stuck on board the destroyer as they are on urgent business and don’t have time to put her ashore. Will the destroyer find Sally the Jinx even more destructive than Hitler’s war machine?
