Plot

Cherry Brent is looking after her Uncle Fred’s two circus chimpanzees, Chico and Jacko. Her father keeps a riding school and a neighbour, Herbert Larter, has made himself very unpleasant, but now he is puzzling Cherry and her friend Sheila by being over friendly. While at Hexford visiting Uncle Fred in hospital, Cherry sees a friend of Larter’s, Mr Skinner, in the street and is surprised by his behaviour.
