One Girl and her Dog [1983]

Plot

A peaceful loch-side had been horrifically interrupted when mysterious killers staged an “accident”, from which the only survivors were a girl who had lost her memory and the dog she relied on to protect her. Now the girl and her dog were walking down a shadowy street in a northern city.

Trouble on Wheels

Plot

On the day Jan Patterson’s little brother, Neil,  was to have the plaster removed from his injured leg, the doctor discovered a complication and ordered the plaster to be retained. Jan felt responsible, as Neil had fallen from his chair while in her charge. Realising that Jan felt guilty, Neil rook advantage of his position and blackmailed her.

The Girl Who Vanished

Plot

When Denise Pender went to Blair School, she expected to find her cousin, Kathy Longren, head prefect there. To Denise’s puzzlement, everyone denied all knowledge of Kathy. However, some clever detective work by Denise led her to a small room where Kathy found her cousin. As they came face to face, Denise gasped in horror, as Kathy’s face was covered in hair!

Deadline for Cora

Plot

Cora Blackett’s father, editor of the  ” Western Sun ” in America in 1880, had been kidnapped by tycoon Harley Barnwell, who wanted to silence the newspaper’s campaign to stop Moonridge Forest from being felled. But Cora took over the paper herself with the help of her Indian friend, Red Flower, and Tom, the printer. Cora organised a torchlight protest ride—but an angry Mr Buckley, the paper’s New York owner, turned up.

The Girl in the Iron Collar

Plot

In the year 871, Rowena, a young Saxon girl, is sentenced to wear an iron collar and be banished from her village for (accidentally) betraying Edmund, the King of East Anglia, to the Vikings, who then killed him. Then she finds the triple-crowned cross of the Angles where King Edmund had hidden it. Without the cross, nobody can claim to be their king, and she helps Alfred of Wessex to take up his rightful role as King of the Saxons. In return, he pardons her and removes her collar.

The Sad Star

Plot

Annabel Richards has lived with her cruel Aunt Flo and Uncle Fred Barlow since she was two and is forced to drudge for them and her cousins Celia and Shannon. When Annabel gets discovered by a modelling agency and is on the rise to television stardom, this leads to even more cruelty as her guardians set out to profit from her new job.

Big-River Belle

Plot

Fourteen year old orphan, Belle Kelly, lived with her aunt and uncle on their small farm in the state of Kentucky, in the 1830’s. Belle’s relatives were mean, grasping folk who had taken her in only for the work they could get out of her. Her only friend was Mungo,the mule.

Plot

A series of short stories revolving around romance. Each story had its own title.

A Bit Green – Katie Brannon is happy when a recycling project brings her to Simon’s house. She keeps using recycling as an excuse to call over to his house, in the end he comes to visit her and she realises she didn’t have to make excuses to see him.

Brothers  Kim Mark was going round to see Tanya Thomson, the new girl who had just moved to town. When she meets her brother Luke, she likes him  but doesn’t know how he feels about her.

Star Wars – Zoe and Terry both like the same guy, Rob. Although Zoe gets a date with him first, Terry uses his belief star-signs to go out with her instead.

Scared to Jump!

Plot

When Gina Peterson lost her nerve after she fell off her horse, Starlight, her friend Katie Birch took her place. Katie also rode her own mount, Mr Billy . . . and both horses qualified for the Cup-Winner’s Cup at Barchester. Gina hoped to ride in the Final but again her nerve failed and Katie rode both horses.
