Jessie Halliplunk, a coalman’s daughter, is being educated at a famous girls’ school at the wish of a distant wealthy relative, Lord Halliope-Plunkett. At first, Jessie does not fit in too well, but after proving to be a first – class rider, she wins the girls approval—except for Cynthia, the former riding champion! Cynthia sends a telegram on the day of the riding championship final that sends Jessie hurrying home, thinking her father is ill.
