My Bionic Budgie

Plot

After being mauled by a cat, Kim Norton’s  pet budgie, Beakie, was treated by an American scientist friend of her father’s. Her pet was now bionic, and Kim’s father made her promise to keep this fact secret—even from Mum!

Yum-Yum in Search of her Sister

Plot

Yum-Yum Tang, a little Japanese girl, came to  England to meet her sister, Kimi, star of an Ice Show run by Mr Tenjo. Mr Tenjo told Yum-Yum that Kimi had died in a fire, but Yum-Yum knew this was not true as she found two messages from Kimi, one of which warned her that Mr Tenjo was dangerous. In an effort to find her sister, Yum-Yum followed the skating company to Tidesea.

Two-Faced Tania

Plot

Tania Rowe, a nineteen-year-old actress, was posing as a  fourteen-year-old member of Millfield Youth Club. She wanted to ruin the club, so that the surrounding ground could be bought for development, by her brother, Brett. Jill Stanton, another club member, had become suspicious, and thought the club had a secret enemy.

Queen of the Five Valleys

Plot

Gwyneth Williams,  who lived alone with her blind father, was competing for the title of Queen of the Five Valleys. The queen was chosen once every 25 years in the Welsh district where Gwyneth lived, and because Gwyneth’s dead mother had been the last queen, her blind father dreamt of Gwyneth winning the title, too. Gwyneth did not think she possessed her mother’s charm and beauty, but after many setbacks she reached the quarter-finals of the competition.

Wendy’s Water-Baby

Plot

When orphaned Wendy O’Brien went to live with her grandmother on the island of Inishkee, off the coast of Ireland, she found it hard to make friends. The islanders hated her, and their dislike grew when Wendy adopted Sheena, a baby seal. When her grandmother was taken to hospital on the mainland, Wendy decided to go to a deserted island near Inishkee, where Sheena would be safe.

Beth of Battle Harbour

Plot

Beth Poole was born in a small fishing village, in the year 1892, when Beth was 13 her family died of influenza. At the suggestion of the Dr. Wilfred Grenfell, she went with him to his Medical Mission at Battle Harbour to train as a nurse.

Kate the Creep

Plot

Orphan Kate Nixon was well cared for by her kind Aunt Rose, but when the wealthy Waltons moved to the district, selfish Kate befriended Julie Walton with the idea of getting herself adopted by them and sharing their luxurious life-style.
