The Lambs and the Fox

Plot

Because they had seen a gang carry out a gold robbery, Chris Lamb and her little sister, Debbie, were kidnapped by the gang. Its leader, Stan Perry—known as The Fox because of his cunning —took the girls along with him and his wife, Vi. He meant to use them as hostages if his plans went wrong.

The Pride of Pamela

Plot

As Keeper of Pomeroy the Peacock, schoolgirl Pam Lowe was under the Ancient Spell of Peacocks, which subjected her to awful bursts of pride, when Pomeroy opened his tail! The spell could only be broken by a rich person of high birth buying the peacock!

Anne of the Green Table

Plot

Anne Collins, the first-ever scholarship pupil at Renton College, was disappointed to  discover that her favourite sport, table tennis, was not played at her new school. The snobby girls at Renton College looked down on Anne, so she decided to join a Youth Club in the nearby town of Hillcrest, in order to make new friends, and play the game she loved.

The Secret Life of Governess Grace

Plot

After their father was lost at sea, Grace Miller and her sister Ruth were unhappy and badly treated in the home of their rich uncle, shipowner Phineas Vivian. To earn their keep, Grace had to work as governess to her spiteful young cousins – and to pay off a debt of £100, left by her father, Grace secretly took an evening job playing the piano and singing at the Galaxy Music Hall.

Prince the Dog of Destiny

Plot

Betty Brown was a lonely girl. She had no  friends at school and was forced to work like a slave for her unpleasant guardians. Finally she could stand it no longer, and ran away. She made for the seaside, but was as lonely as ever until an unusual dog called Prince swam out of the sea and made friends with her. Just after meeting Prince, Betty was invited to a wonderful party. In some mysterious way Prince was able to guide Betty to do things that would bring her happiness.

The Whispering Shadow

Plot

Sheila Hall was the first exciting prospect the Dolphin Swimming Club had produced since the days of Jean Holt, a former coach at the Dolphin. Jean had mysteriously vanished shortly after Sheila’s aunt, Anne Jordan, was attacked.  Anne Jordan, the Club’s secretary, was left paralysed and without any memory. Now the Club coach was Ethel Smythe, but then a mysterious woman known as the Whispering Shadow appeared at the Club. The Shadow, a superb swimmer, opposed Ethel Smythe’s training methods and began to take over Sheila’s coaching herself.

Her Cousin’s Keeper

Plot

Lucy Shaw’s rich uncle paid for her to attend Acton Hall Boarding School – but only on condition that she looked after his daughter, Hilary. Lucy loved Acton hall but spoiled, wilful Hilary hated it and wanted to get expelled. Lucy knew if that happened, she would have to leave too!

Anna’s Autographs

Plot

Anna Doyle had been commanded by The Stranger, an alien being, to collect autographs of various people in a special book. Having signed, the person would then be transported to the planet Zakron. Anna agreed to help as long as The Stranger completely cured her brother Jamie of a serious illness.
