The Grimthorpe Secret

Plot

In Victorian times, Paulina Grimthorpe was turned out of her home, Grimthorpe Hall, along with all the servants when her uncle Darley claimed the estate after the sudden death of her father. In order to search for the will she felt sure her father must have left, Paulina took a job as a scullery maid in her own home under the name Polly Ford.

Dark Days for Dot and Carrie

Plot

Dot Preston was convinced that the girl who arrived at her children’s home was actually her twin sister, Carrie, believed killed in a second World War air raid  4 years previously. When Carrie is to be fostered, Dot convinces her to runaway so they can stay together and she sets out to find proof they are sisters.

Terror at Tall Towers / “S-S-Sylvia Wants to S-S-Sing!”

Plot

Melanie Forsyth was the leading soloist at the Sheringly school choir which was competing at the Tall Towers song festival. Melanie was being threatened by a ghostly hooded figure, that called herself Sylvia. Sylvia didn’t want her to sing, and Melanie suspected one of the other girls in the choir was responsible. She seeks help from Mr Armstrong the blind piano tuner to uncover the culprit.

Sarah’s Smile of Sorrow

Plot

When a mysterious illness wiped out her family, Sarah Blake survived the sickness but it left her with a twisted mouth and a permanent smile. She was taken in by her father’s scheming cousin Iris. Though Sarah’s family were poor, Aunt Iris owned a mill where she planned to make Sarah a slave.

Welcome to Wendy’s House

Plot

Wendy Dunn’s mother fostered children in need of temporary care. There was always a welcome at Wendy’s house. Some children Wendy helps with is reuniting a boy Mick with estranged father, another girl Josie plays tricks and blames Wendy, but after finding out her backstory Wendy finds new foster home with a couple who lost their child.

Too Many Cooks [1983]

Plot

After the death of her parents Sally Cook went to live with her 3 aunts and 2 uncles but discovered it was a hard task trying to please all her guardians as each of them wanted her to succeed at different things none of which she is good at (such as sport, cooking, acting…)
