Children of Misery

Plot

Rosemary Wilson has been taken prisoner by the Arkans, a strange people who never smile. Some of the families are now trying to escape, with Rosemary as their leader. Rosemary is puzzled as to why the Arkans do not seem to be pursuing them. Could it have a connection with the mysterious illness that is now striking the fugitives?

My Father’s No Cheat

Plot

Jenny Mortimer is an expert fencer. Her father has been training her, but he is forced to go on the run when he is charged with fraud at the bank where he is manager. He is trying to prove his innocence while finding ways to continue help Jenny with her fencing. But the police are watching the family and trying to flush Mr Mortimer out with tactics such as freezing his assets.

Tinker Belle

Plot:

Orphan Belle has been brought up by a tinker couple called Lotts. She cannot read or write, but wants to learn. Mrs Dupont offers her free training at classy Hawsbury School. Then she goes on holiday. Belle ends up in a Children’s Home, but does not like it, and is on the run while waiting for Mrs Dupont to return.

Sonia’s Secret [1978]

Plot:

Sonia Rostova is the prima ballerina of the Russian Imperial Ballet, which is on tour through Russia. Throughout the tour, Sonia has to hide Pavel, who is being pursued by Boris Shepin of the secret police for a crime he did not commit. And Shepin has infiltrated the ballet troupe by becoming director.

The Strange Powers of Penny

Plot:

Penny Lane is on the run from Ida and Harry Hermanos, who exploited her in their fake mind-reading act. Penny does in fact have real powers and her spirit guide is directing her to a house in the west of England. But the Hermanoses have set the police on her, and Penny has put herself in the limelight by helping people with her powers.
