Rock School

Plot

Paula, Mel, Rachel and twins, Jo and Jane had formed an all-girl rock group called ‘Simply Pink’. They wanted to compete for the inter-school rock concert, but their van had its tyre slashed. The girls suspected a rival group, ‘ Wild Bunch’ , were responsible for the tyre.

I’ll Ruin That School!

Plot

Unknown to the pupils and staff of Clerkenwell College, an enemy was in their midst. Julie Dean’s father, the former janitor, had been driving to an interview for a new job, following a row with Miss Kane, the headmistress when his car crashed. Julie’s parents were killed and Julie blamed the school for their deaths.

A Girl’s Best Friend

Plot

After the death of her husband Mrs Cameron and her daughter Jill found it a struggle to keep the Cameron Hotel going. Then she met an old school friend Alice Delmount who was also a widow and had money to invest. Mrs Delmount suggested a partnership after a trial period but her daughter Emily was sabotaging the plans.

The Golden Fleece

Plot

Liz Maxwell lived in the North-West of Canada with her father, a research scientist who was trying to perfect an artificial fur. Pete Broderick and Armand Dupont, two fur trappers, saw a danger to their business, and burned down Dr Maxwell’s laboratory. Liz’s father was blinded in the fire, but he and Liz continued with their work. They produced a fur and Dr Maxwell went to town to discuss production with a large firm there. Broderick and Dupont tried to kidnap Liz, but she escaped.

Terror in the Big Top

Plot:

Was the ghost of dead circus star Carla Francetti menacing her young replacement, Gina Mason? During Gina’s high-wire act, the wire snapped and Gina plummeted downwards.She managed to save herself but she was suspicious of Taga, the circus lion tamer.

Seven Tests for Silverdale 

Plot:

Seven girls from Silverdale School have been chosen to take part in a series of contests against a similar team from Garston School.  The winning team will gain for their school a legacy left in the will of a local eccentric, Miss Trotter who had, in her youth, attended both schools. The contest is being held in a special camp, and the adjudicator is Miss Berman. The girls of Silverdale have lost the first two contests, and suspect foul play.

Plot

Betty Brown tries to run her horse-drawn  barge single-handed after her father is injured. She is opposed by Jasper Palk, a land-owner who wants to close the canal, but she gets help from a mysterious stranger called Max.

Dark Secret

Plot:

Dinah Blair’s mother has inherited a castle in Austria which she hopes to turn into a hotel. Dinah and her mother receive a cold welcome from Annelise von Heirigen, a distant relative who they suspect is trying to force them to leave, for then she would inherit the castle. A party of schoolgirls is expected to arrive at the castle, but Dinah is startled to see them in Salzburg, about to go home.

Publicity Penny

Plot

Penny Martin and her father are advance publicity agents for Pedroni’s Circus, in which Mrs Martin performs with a team of liberty horses.  An unknown man who has a hatred of circuses is making it difficult for them to advertise the show. The secret enemy bribes a man called Strake to set fire to the Martins’ van. Mr Martin is injured in the explosion that follows.

Deep-Sea Debbie / Debbie and the Drowned Village

Plot

Debbie’s father, Mike Nolan, is a professional skindiver, specialising in underwater jobs where the usual diving equipment is too cumbersome. From an early age, Debbie has been taught to use an aqua-lung, and now she assists her father in his newly-formed Underwater Enterprises Company.

Debbie and her father, return in Debbie and the Drowned Village. The two travel to Llanberan, in Wales,  where unexplained accidents are holding up the completion of a new dam. Mike and Debbie believe the accidents are the work of a man who doesn’t want the dam built. While Bill Parry, the engineer in charge of the project, is on top of the dam, the bucket on a crane swings round and causes him to fall into the reservoir. He doesn’t surface and Debbie dives in after to save him.
