Plot:
Text story for the Valentine issue 1990. A girl neglected her geography homework because she was too busy organising the Valentine card for her crush, and is dreading the teacher’s reaction.

Joanne Hurst and Kelly Thomas are best friends. They decide to ban boys after some bad experiences with them and just stick together. Then Kelly meets Brian, a boy she can’t resist, and starts dating him in secret from Joanne.
Janet Osbourne and Tracey Mullins are best friends, and are dismayed to find they are being sent to different schools. They resolve to keep their friendship nonetheless. At her new school, Janet makes best friends with Anne. When she finds out Anne is really Mary-Anne, the cousin Tracey dislikes, she sets out to keep her friendship with the cousin secret from Tracey.

In Victorian times, Isabel Long is sent to school by her guardians, as it was her father’s dying wish that she receive a good education. The school is a harsh one, run by the cruel Miss Dawkins. Isabel’s attempts to make friends always seem to end in doom, making her the loneliest and most miserable girl in the school. Then, when Isabel begins to make friends when some pupils take pity on her, Miss Dawkins suddenly goes all out to make her life extra miserable.
Plot:
New girl Tina James has become unpopular at Spencer High because of her strange behaviour. The problem is that Tina can see into the future, but the visions do not work out exactly as she interpreted. But one prediction that Tina is convinced is right is that she will die before the summer ends.
When Pat’s uncle died, he had been thought to be very rich, but it had turned out to be just the opposite. He had shown horses in a big way, and had lived in a huge mansion in the country. His sister, Pat’s aunt, Jane had been his sole heir. On his death, it had been found that his debts came to more money than he had. His house had been sold to raise money and there had been just enough to pay the debts with a little over. Aunt Jane had refused to sell the four horses left to her. Horses had played the biggest part in her life and, although she could not ride because of her bad hip, she knew that her young niece was an excellent horsewoman. Pat was an orphan, and had lived with Aunt Jane for as long as she could remember. Both knew that the only way they could keep the horses would be to travel round to various shows with them all summer, hoping to win enough money to keep going.

Plot:
In the 19th century, Megan Hughes and her grandfather go in search of Megan’s mother Olwen, who had disappeared from home many years ago after her husband and other children died. Grandfather and Megan use their magic lantern shows to aid the search by always showing audiences a picture of Olwen. Eventually a boy recognises her as “The Ghost Lady”, who haunts the coal mines at Maesglas.
In the 18th century, there is a ban on wool exports, brought about by men like Sir Roger Ackerman who grow rich on it. Mary Tufton leads a gang of smugglers known as “The Owlers” to defy the ban and Ackerman by smuggling wool to France.
Kathy and Diane Foley are twins who have been separated for many years after their parents split up. When the parents decide to try again, the twins are constantly fighting.
