Plot

Blind Arabella Ainsley was orphaned  when a shipwreck claimed the lives of her entire family. Then, one day, a woman claiming to be the girl’s mother arrived at Ainsley Hall and persuaded Arabella to go to the Blind School with a companion Miss Emmeline Edgeworth.

The Search for Snow White

Plot

Sally Foster helped her grandfather with his touring concert party, The Starlight Players. Sally had bought a set of antique puppets, representing the Seven Dwarfs, thinking they could be used in the puppet act. But the dwarfs brought bad luck to the party, and a series of accidents had occurred—each one after a similar mishap had happened to one of the puppets. Sally’s grandfather was now in hospital, and Sally’s attempts at getting rid of the dwarfs had failed.

Plot

When Andy Ellis was taken ill and told not to play his cornet for three  months, his twin sister, Kate, secretly took his place in the Barfield Boys’ Brass Band. Although Andy was now well again, and fit to rejoin the band, Kate was continuing for the time being because of preparations for a competition.

The MacTavish Monster

Plot

Mary Watson was overjoyed when her artist father agreed to settle for a while in a cottage on the shores of Loch MacTavish to find the peace and quiet he needed to paint his masterpiece. When Mary discovered a monster in the loch, she knew that she had to keep it secret or their peaceful home would be swarming with sightseers. Unfortunately, it was causing her problems!

The Lillies of Arkon

Plot

Thirteen year old Sharon Jackson was trying to carry out a very strange task. She had to find a dozen lily bulbs from the planet Arkon which had accidentally become rooted on Earth. The juice from the plants gave superhuman powers to anyone who tasted it, so Sharon had to stop the plants falling into the wrong hands.

The Last Buttercup

Plot

In the year 2083, Britain was ruled by The  Decider, a vast impersonal computer. Thirteen-year-old Moira Wade was sentenced to a punishment battalion, when she rebelled against the system. Flowers had been banished from the fields in the name of efficient farming, but in a place called the Zone of Voices, Moira discovered  a courtyard where buttercups still grew and also found the diary of her grandfather, freedom fighter Timothy Quentin. She and her friends, Natasha and Billy, were trying to save wild flowers to plant in the Zone of Voices and were sheltering a girl called Angie there, too. Angie had escaped from a Re-education Centre, and had told them about a boy called Neil who was Natasha and Billy’s older brother. Neil was locked up in the notorious Zero punishment cell there.
